I also took from the book the idea of continued determination and discipline to get success. I now know that if I work hard enough I can succeed in the class. As Escalante struggled through hardships in his life, he not only proved himself as a teacher but as an individual. Though I am not sure if I would flourish under his direction, in fact I am sure I would not, one cannot doubt the widespread benefits that his students reaped under his tutelage. Though I admire his work ethic and his passion for teaching, he seems to be inflexible and too harsh in his regulations for me.
