Christopher Lane did a great job. The quick and dirty: it's a military suspense adventure novel that takes place in a well imagined future that has a strong basis in the world today.

This is the 13th book I have read in the Patrick McLanahan Series. I would say this book will keep the reader curious and on edge. Christopher Lane did a great job. For me the best part of the book was all the fancy military tech.

One of his books even left it open at McLanahan may not be dead as the bad guy Russians found his coffin empty. A series certainly worth reading. I like almost all of Dale Brown's books - but that may be because he's an old USAF SAC crewdog, like me. I enjoy his technological "advances" as well, although, sometimes I'm just a bit strained to suspend disbelief.

2007) (Book 13 in the Patrick McLanahan series) A novel by Dale Brown. The Battle For Control Of Iran.

When a disgraced former Iranian military chief of staff engineers an insurgency that threatens to destroy the theocratic regime in Iran, a new era appears to be dawning in the Middle East. But one must be wary of old enemies . . . On the run from the Pasdaran, the theocrat’s terror army, and unable to count on support from his friends in the regular army, Iranian rebel leader General Hesarak al-Kan Buzhazi desperately turns to his old nemesis, U.S. Air Force Lieutenant-General Patrick McLanahan, for help. Unwilling to commit American forces in an Iranian civil war, and with time running out, the U.S. president authorizes McLanahan to utilize a new, top-secret fleet of globe-crossing spaceplanes, the XR-A9 Black Stallions, led by test pilot and astronaut Captain Hunter Noble. Within hours, McLanahan’s Air Battle Force turns the tide, possibly changing the course of history in the Middle East for generations. The advent of almost instantaneous global reach, along with the reactivation of America’s first military space station, Silver Tower, has rekindled fears of a space arms race, and the growing insurgency in Iran is threatening to erupt into a worldwide jihad. But McLanahan finds himself embroiled in even more bitter battles at the White House, between those who support his space-based military initiative and those who are working secretly to undermine it. When McLanahan is forced to concentrate on his political and personal battles back at home, it’s left to Hunter Noble and his team of young American space engineers to keep the fires of freedom in the Middle East from exploding completely out of control.
Comments to eBook Strike Force (Patrick McLanahan, Book 13)

This book blends reality as we understand weapons today with a futuristic view of how technology will advance weapons. It is set in a time after the US has been attacked by Russia, and most of our weaponry was destroyed. The book is fast reading, and kept my interest, but I found the hero general's role pretty unbelievable, and the disfunction of the president's staff too extreme. My wife and I generally read the same books, but I did not suggest she read this one.

Read many of Mr. Brown's books and I've enjoyed all of them. His books featuring Patrick McLanahan have been my favorite. One of his books even left it open at McLanahan may not be dead as the bad guy Russians found his coffin empty. A series certainly worth reading.

I love the writer's description of the technology used in the story. The story itself is strong in details and technology that is or isn't actually available today but the author makes it believable.

Brown has demonstrated again how he is able to juggle so many hot potatoes in one story, jumping from place to place and time to time with a familiar cast of characters. Yet he is able to avoid becoming predictable and maintains excitability. He injects a feeling of believable science fiction in near future technology while incorporating political world events to flesh out the plot in a series of possible occurrences.

If a book is real future Sci Fi the reader can be open to explanations etc that would be unbelievable otherwise. That is the problem I have with Strike Force. It is too close to "today" making the high Sci Fi elements so critical to the book beyond belief at least for me. On top of that the character development was very shallow. The author should spend more time on character development and less time on Sci Fi weapons.

Every once in a while I read a Dale Brown book and this one was suggested at a good price, so I thought that I would read it. It is all about technical specifications and equipment with a few people thrown in to create a story line. I hope that no one in the United States is able to create the situations suggested in this book and control military operations to the extent presented here. More story and less technical specifications would be far more interesting to me, but if you like specifications this is for you.

Suspenseful and attention grabbing. It's worth reading front beginning to end especially if you love military suspence. Very good writing.
