This is a well done audio. The reader has a pleasant voice to listen to. She does not attempt to alter her voice for different characters; I have listened to enough audio books to have formed an opinion that unless the reader has the voice skills of Mel Blanc, readers are better off not attempting to do voices that may potentially be irritating or detract from the listening experience. So I applaud Stephanie Diaz's performance on this audio book. Very well done. I wish some of JAK's other audio books were done by this reader instead.

FIVE STARS CUZ I LOVE THIS BOOK.

5 stars for this story because it is one of my favorites of her pre-paranormal contemporary romances. I like snobby Eugenia despite her snobbiness and I love down to earth Cyrus. For Cyrus, it is attraction at first site. For Eugenia, it is revulsion at first site. She fights Cyrus nearly every step of the way. However, she is fighting a losing battle because he is a reliable, strong, lovable man with tremendous integrity. As she grows to recognize this, she begins to appreciate and become attracted to him despite the aloha shirts. There are many scenes of great repartee in this novel. It is fun even when danger is involved.

Some of JAKs novels seem as if she is fulfilling a contract, however, this is a solid representation of her earlier works.

The story is set in an unusual place; an island is the pacific nw. The characters are complete, the plot is not immediately discernable.

If you like JAK, you will not be disappointed.

I give it 4/5 bc the standard for JAK novels is quite high and, compared to herself, her secondary characters could be more 3 dimensional instead of pawns to move the plot along....the main characters are great, but a truly terrific novel satisfies the readers interest in all of the characters who are connected to the main characters. She ended the story too abruptly.....an epilogue would have given the novel a HAE that was more satisfying.

I look forward in picking up a novel by Jayne Ann Krentz. I followed you as Castle and have read all you have written so far. This novel is well written and holds a worthy read. If you enjoy mysteries. This novel is worth your time and can be a fast read. Because . . . you can't place it down. A little romance and a lot of who done it.

I finally got this book. I have always wanted a digital copy. But the price had been sky high. Then I complained to other amazon.com customers and they suggest that I write to the publishers. It took three letters and surprise surprise after a couple of years it come down. I have never been so happy. Thank you amazon.com and customers. Including Simon and Schuster.

When Jayne started writing her books were alpha-hero, grateful heroine. Some set my teeth on edge. But over the years her heroines became stronger and the heroes less overbearing. They now often take turns saving each other.
This book has a strong heroine and a quirky hero. They shouldn’t work well together but they do. Lots of plot twists and as always a fun read. No gore. Great story!

I truly enjoy books by Jayne Ann Krentz, no matter what name or genre she is writing.
Her romances are believable and fun. She can tell a good and sometimes great story. She does here research.
When I pick up one of her stories, regardless of whether or not I have read them before, I know I will be entertained.

I loved hear early books. They were delightful, light, entertaining, but still, her heroines were real people, they had problems and hang ups and they made mistakes in judgment. And during the book, they somehow developped, learned something about themselves, grew beyond some old fears, or so. And the man was part of that growing up. The last few books are getting ever flatter. The story is still delightful, but the women, and I miss this most, they do not grow. The men too, but they still develop more during the book than the women. The whole story feels like a casual affair, not like LOVE. This is not romance for me; romance is a void being filled, a growing up of the whole person.
So, since the last I really liked, "Trust me" (or "Grand Passion" whichever came first), I still find her a fun read, but it gets flatter and flatter in every book and I will probably not buy her next one as a hardcover, it is just not worth that money. Same goes for h! er Amanda Quick novels.
Like another reader, I would beg her: Please, take the time to write something with a bit more substance on the personalities' side. I don't mind formula, I like her kind of formula, she can go on writing that kind of book forever, but make the characters come alive again, give them more flaws and more growth - to me, Aloha shirts are not enough to make someone special.
I am so glad that Kindle has made these earlier books by Ms. Krentz! I have read her for years, and now I have the pleasure of rereading some of the books that I read years ago. Love the ability to revisit old friends!
