The Emotional I Ching book.

Both are refined into emotional states that are positive as well as negative - the yang nature tries to take over context (or more so assert its own), the yin nature tries to fit-in to the existing context (be more cooperative than competitive). All other states 'mix' those basic differences.

The I Ching, or Book of Changes, is a text dominated by a focus on process, on sequence. The methodology involved in creating the symbolisms of the I Ching is not just focused on process but on the processing around, within, between, archetypal, and so universal, structures. The following material is about those structures - how the method of derivation, the use of recursion of yin/yang (or more generically, the recursion of A/NOT-A), and so of self-referencing, extracts definite forms that serve as universals in describing processes.

I Ching, the ancient Chinese art of divination, has been the most popular form of fortune telling in China since around 1,000 . and has as much relevance in our lives today as ever. Every day we have to make many decisions at various levels, and pressures from all sides, at home, in the office, even at play, abound. The I Ching Pack helps to clear your mind and gives a new perspective on the problem or decision at hand

This book presents the I Ching as an example of a language, a language of the vague, and as such shows the ability of the I Ching to describe itself by reference to itself. This association with language allows for linking yang/yin with fight/flight -

Broadraven
This is an extremely heavy book, in every sense of the word. As a exploration into the emotional interpretation of the I Ching, it represents an important first step. And, in justice to the author, he admits this to be the case. But the I Ching represented within the book, there is no divination involved. The individual hexagram you reach is based on a series of emotional questions with binary answers that lead to a particular hexagram or "gua." At that point, a series of further statements show you how that particular gua relates to others. Moving lines can be involved, but again, only through a series of questions. This is an important work for modern depth psychology, but it should not be confused with the original oracular nature of the I Ching

Celak
Although dry, and difficult, I do not base my 5 stars quite so much on the 'flavor' of the text as much as I do on the sheer power of the world view that is being conveyed through the lens of the language of the I ching.

Perhaps disappointing if you are looking for a traditionalist approach to divination, but having studied his "IDM" theory for a while now I am convinced that the paradigm Chris uses to link the form of the I ching to more fundamental categories of cognition has lead to breakthroughs for me in understanding, in just about every thing that I apply my mind to.

Until the core of the argument (that meaning results from the recursion of the dichotomy of integrate/differentiate) really sunk in I admit that his point seemed impenetrable and over my head; I started reading with skepticism and with an intent to DISPROVE him. If you can't beat em, join em, and eventually the interconnections between all the different domains of knowledge (that share brains in common) have been rendered visible.

There is a method at the beginning of the book that is 'divination like' though doesn't rely on anything necessarily mystical. As a person who started off pursuing an education in psychology because of my own difficulty in managing my emotions, I am more than happy to give my personal testimony that the 'readings' I get from using Chris's question method strikes so true that I'd rather people try it and test it out for themselves than continue to listen to me try to put into words something which you'd have to experience for yourself to believe.
