Graduate Texts in Mathematics. A First Course in Noncommutative Rings.

Graduate Texts in Mathematics. Authors: Lam, Tsit-Yuen. The entire text has been retyped, some proofs were rewritten, and numerous improvements in the exposition have been included. impressively shows, the book is indeed very suitable as a text for a full-year graduate course in non-commutative ring theory.

Graduate Texts in Mathematics This is an awesome book for graduates and undergraduates who are fascinated by ring theory.

Graduate Texts in Mathematics Jul 16, 2013 Ryan Schwiebert rated it it was amazing. This is an awesome book for graduates and undergraduates who are fascinated by ring theory. I still use it all the time, and it was indispensable during my own graduate study. The author has a very readable exposition style, and provides lots of clear examples and useful exercises. As a reader I really felt I was being taken on a purposeful stroll of ideas in ring theory.

This book is an outgrowth of my lectures in these two courses, and is intended for use by instructors and graduate students in a similar one-semester course in basic ring theory.

I taught this course in the Fall of 1983, and more recently in the Spring of 1990, both times focusing on the theory of noncommutative rings. This book is an outgrowth of my lectures in these two courses, and is intended for use by instructors and graduate students in a similar one-semester course in basic ring theory. Ring theory is a subject of central importance in algebra. Historically, some of the major discoveries in ring theory have helped shape the course of development of modern abstract algebra.

A First Course in Noncommutative Rings (Graduate Texts in Mathematics). As in the previous book, the presentation is extremely clear and incisive and the exercises are both interesting and challenging. Without a doubt, the book could indeed serve as a textbook for a very good--though definitely course in ring theory. The author is the first to admit, in his introduction, that he is far from having covered all of the interesting topics in noncommutative ring theory.

Tsit-Yuen Lam. Springer Science & Business Media, 2. 6. This book, an outgrowth of the author¿s lectures at the University of California at Berkeley, is intended as a textbook for a one-semester course in basic ring theory. The material covered includes the Wedderburn-Artin theory of semisimple rings, Jacobson¿s theory of the radical, representation theory of groups and algebras, prime and semiprime rings, local and semilocal rings, perfect and semiperfect rings, etc.

A First Course in Noncomm. has been added to your Cart. This is a textbook for graduate students who have had an introduction to abstract algebra and now wish to study noncummutative rig theor. here is a feeling that each topic is presented with specific goals in mind and that the most efficient path is taken to achieve these goals. The author received the Steele prize for mathematical exposition in 1982; the exposition of this text is also award-wining caliber.
