He is also a charter member of the American Planning Association. Among his books are Genealogical Atlas of the United States (1976), The Mormon Role in the Settlement of the West (1978) and a large collections of works written with Llody Hudman. Jackson holds bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and a P. He has been a faculty member at BYU since 1969 and has also worked as a consultant to the Utah Historical Society as well as businesses and municipalities.
This paper examines pilgrimage-related tourism among members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called the Mormon church) by tracing the development of the church and associated pilgrimage destinations. For nearly a century authorities have promulgated the view that alfalfa (Medicago sativa ., being brought from Chile (from Spanish origin) into Cali-fornia, spread mainly eastward from California to Utah and then, from Utah-grown seed, to parts of central and eastern North America.
