A total of 27 taxa of benthic marine algae, representing 19 taxa of Rhodophyta, 5 taxa of Ochrophyta . Phaeophyta showed higher total tocopherol content than Chlorophyta and Rhodophyta. In five species of algae, a-tocopherol was the principal ( 90%) type of tocopherol.

A total of 27 taxa of benthic marine algae, representing 19 taxa of Rhodophyta, 5 taxa of Ochrophyta (Phaeophyceae), and 3 taxa of Chlorophyta, are reported for the first time from the Sultanate of Oman. All of these collections were made from the Hallaniyat Islands (formerly the Kuria Muria Islands) of the southern coast of Oman. Other species contained about 10 ~ 50% of non-a-tocopherols.
