Kapraun combines ecology, taxonomy, and the life histories of 79 species of North Carolina red algae in the first step toward a complete regional analysis of all inshore algae.
Kapraun combines ecology, taxonomy, and the life histories of 79 species of North Carolina red algae in the first step toward a complete regional analysis of all inshore algae. Each paired alternative in the readily usable dichotomous key represents anatomical characteristics that are typically present and easily observed. Species descriptions are based on locally collecte Kapraun combines ecology, taxonomy, and the life histories of 79 species of North Carolina red algae in the first step toward a complete regional analysis of all inshore algae.

Here we present eight new records of marine macroalgae collected from the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica between March 2011 and May 2019. The morphological characteristics of Bryocladia cuspidata, Ceratodictyon variabile, Gracilaria hayi, Padina boergesenii, Zonaria tournefortii, Sargassum furcatum, Chaetomorpha aerea, and Bryopsis pennata var. secunda are described. A total of 27 taxa of benthic marine algae, representing 19 taxa of Rhodophyta, 5 taxa of Ochrophyta . Phaeophyta showed higher total tocopherol content than Chlorophyta and Rhodophyta. In five species of algae, a-tocopherol was the principal ( 90%) type of tocopherol.
A total of 27 taxa of benthic marine algae, representing 19 taxa of Rhodophyta, 5 taxa of Ochrophyta (Phaeophyceae), and 3 taxa of Chlorophyta, are reported for the first time from the Sultanate of Oman. All of these collections were made from the Hallaniyat Islands (formerly the Kuria Muria Islands) of the southern coast of Oman. Other species contained about 10 ~ 50% of non-a-tocopherols. Three species contained relatively high percentages.

tudies on the benthic marine macroalgae of the Texas coast go back to the early publications ofTaylor (1936, 1941, 1954). Edwards' (1970) illustrated guide to the algae in the vicinity of Port Aransas, Nueces County, was a major contribution in describing and depicting the algae occurring both on the exposed boulder jetties and the more protected habitats of the seagrass flats and oyster beds of the region. In her compendium of the marine algae and seagrasses for the entire Gulf of Mexico, Earle (1972) did not categorize Texas records per se, but "Area C" in her plate 6 largely corresponds to the Texas coast.

Plant Life of Kentucky is the first comprehensive guide to all the ferns, flowering herbs, and woody plants of the state
Plant Life of Kentucky is the first comprehensive guide to all the ferns, flowering herbs, and woody plants of the state. This long-awaited work provides identification keys for Kentucky's 2,600 native and naturalized vascular plants, with notes on wildlife/human uses, poisonous plants, and medicinal herbs. The common name, flowering period, habitat, distribution, rarity, and wetland status are given for each species, and about 80 percent are illustrated with line drawings.
