I love most of Barbara Cartland's novels. They are set in a time period that is my ultimate favorite. I love reading about the characters and places. She is great with making sure there are historical references and I learn a little about the events of the time too. These are fun reading and simple, nice stories.

Leona has to travel to Scotland to live with a Duke following the death of her mother. When her carriage has an accident, she meets the young chieftain from a neighboring clan. She falls in love within hours, as does he. Such a thing is normal in Cartland novels. The issue I have with this novel is the "secret" in this novel. I don't want to give everything away, but it is not a very positive portrayal of a person with disabilities. It is frankly disturbing and sad, and Leona is not a very impressive heroine.
