To keep her former courtesan student Bliss from Newgate, Lady Noelle Seymour sneaks into an aristocrat's home to return a necklace stolen by her pupil. However, while inside the bedroom of the Earl Seabrook Charles, she finds the lord intoxicated. She explains she is a courtesan to the occupant Charles half-American cousin Gavin Blackwell. He kisses her before falling into a drunken sleep while she exits the boudoir.

Charles and Gavin discuss who the mysterious mistress is and where did the former's courtesan Bliss go. When Gavin sees Noelle, he knows who she is and demands she live up to the promise she made to him when she entered his bedroom although she insists her "deal" was with the Earl and not the cousin. As they fall in love, Noelle has doubts that she can trust him based on her observations of father's behavior over the years. Having an estranged aristocratic English dad, Gavin is patient with his beloved until she finally stomps on their love.

The sequel to A School for Brides is a wonderful historical romance between The Accidental Courtesan and the Bostonian. A mystery subplot adds to the entertaining story line. The solid support cast enhances the courtship between a Bostonian business mogul and a distrusting teacher at what might be better named The School for Scandal (by Richard Sheridan).

Jump right in! Feet first! Head First! Any way you want to just dive into the sensual Regency world created by romance author Cheryl Ann Smith in THE ACCIDENTAL COURTESAN which is the second installment in her powerfully scintillating, A School For Brides Romance series released this past month by Berkley sensations. An engaging read that has readers clamoring to see how this powerfully seductive mistaken identity prose plays out. Jump on In!

Sneaking into a strangers bedroom in the dark of night is not what is all cracked up to be, but Lady Noelle Seymour is on a mission to save a "bride-in-training" and replace the stolen necklace before she breaks her pretty neck. She never expects to come face to face with Gavin Blackwell, cousin of the Earl of Seabrook. Thinking of the first excuse that races her mind she tells the dashing rogue she is his new courtesan.

Mystified to see this beauty in his private chamber he is more intrigue to see and taste her wares. But before he can gather his wits she disappears disrupting her sleep and his life. Gavin Blackwell hunts Lady Noelle demanding she make good on her proposition.

Gavin and Lady Noelle have no idea what they are in for. All they know is footpads where sent out to beat Gavin for information about the necklace. Finally, coming together to figure out who the culprit is out to do Blackwell bodily harm. It doesn't help when Noelle is kidnapped by the fiends leaving Blackwell to race after her. Intrigue and chaos abound is what the two find as they discover a passion so combustible that with one kiss a fiery passionate affair ignites.

THE ACCIDENTAL COURTESAN is a classic mistaken identity romance that is pure perfection. Smith engages reader sense through her skillfully and tight imagery with characters that jump of the pages with stunning dialogue set in the richly decadent Regency era. Even though THE ACCIDENTAL COURTESAN is the send in Smith's bewitching A School for Brides Romance series it still has that fascinating stamp of being able to stand on its own. One reason that this story his so powerful is due to Lady Noelle Seymour and Gavin Blackwell. What was it that first caught my eye? Was it the fact that Lady Noelle climbs up a trellis and into Gavin's darkened private chamber to come face to face with the stunningly gorgeous with sexual magnetism dripping from his hooded eyes? Well, yes that could be one reason. Or was it when Lady Noelle could not hold back but shout the first thing to come to her mind and claim she is to be his new courtesan and is here for a try? Wait, maybe it was the Regency era? Or the many fascinating facets that make up this awe inspiring read. Then reader, I would claim all of the above and then some.

Smith gave readers a captivating read when she sat down to pen Lady Noelle and Gavin Blackwell's story. The tone of the story was set with a skillful twist of the hand and underlined the strong characterization that made this one supremely intellectually stimulating read.

THE ACCIDENTAL COURTESAN do not just have one element to recommend itself but a plethora that would be hard pressed for and romance aficionado to miss out on.

When selling real estate the mantra is `location, location, location'. The same can be said when reviewing a book. What time period the story takes place, the settings, the plot and sub-plots? But what out shines the previous statement is `characters, well crafted characters, intelligent-fleshed-out characters that grips readers from the moment they read the blurb on the back cover. THE ACCIDENTAL COURTESAN has that in spades. Besides having two of the most alluring protagonist we are treated to a revisit with Lord and Lady Nicolas Stanfield from THE SCHOOL FOR BRIDES, which I absolutely adored. There are a few characters that standout like the ex-courtesan that set this story and series on its spinning axis in the first place. One particular courtesan, Bliss has Noelle risking life, limb and ruin to make sure neither one has a visit with the hangman's noose. Bliss is the quintessential courtesan that has caused such a stir for everyone involved bringing Earl of Seabrook and his wife into play. These charming cast of characters are indeed the life of the party.

There comes a time when being mistaken for someone else can actually work in your favor. THE ACCIDENTAL COURTESAN bring so many elements come together to lead and hinder Lady Noelle and Blackwell into finding their happily ever after. The premise is one I enjoy reading countless times. As an avid reader the mistaken identity works perfectly in aiding both Lady Noelle and Blackwell. Lady Noelle's obvious in trying to keep her reputation intact. Where as Blackwell is hiding behind what people only perceive him to be. In the end both had to come to terms of what and who they truly are.

Indulge your senses and treat yourself to a story that not only engages your senses with the author use of powerful imagery, potent dialogue the sparks the imagination with sublime characterization that leads reader into a fantastical world of pure delight. If you are ready...JUMP...into THE ACCIDENTAL COURTESAN and be swept away into a world that captivates a readers heart.

This was one of the worst books I've read. The plot was so weak and the repetitive anatomy descriptions were about half of the book.

Sorry, but that characters and plot are predictable. Not fresh or engaging yet, but I wish you better luck next time.

Lady Noelle was given the task of helping to oversee the school established by her half sister Eva while she was out of town. The school helps troubled courtesans change their lives and teaches them how to prepare for a respectable marriage. When a desperate courtesan named Bliss arrives at the school with a stolen necklace, Noelle agrees to help her return it. But Lady Noelle Seymour is busted sneaking into the Earl of Seabrook's Town house to return the stolen necklace. She goes in the wrong room and encounters the earl's cousin by mistake. Fortunately, he's drunk and she manages to leave the necklace and make her escape. But he remembers her scent, as well as her excuse for being in his room: she's his new courtesan. When he finds her, he insists that she fulfill her promise and become his lover.

The premise of the book sounds intriguing, but for me the story just doesn't deliver. It's tolerable if you can get past the witless schemes Noelle attempts. For example, at one point she decides to dress up like a courtesan so she can mingle with other courtesans, in the hopes that she'll gather some useful gossip about a maid they suspect is connected to the plot to steal the earl's necklace. But there didn't seem to be any reason to think some random courtesans would have any useful knowledge. So to me this just seemed like a pointless ploy to get dressed up like a whore and play amateur detective. As I continued to read, I found Noelle to be immature, impulsive almost to the point of being a danger to herself, and a cock tease. It took a fair amount of self-discipline for me to finish the book. Some of my impatience with this book might be due to the fact that I recently read another historical romance with a very similar beginning, where the heroine was caught sneaking into a bedroom to return a stolen item. Seriously, what kind of idiot would even do that?

Nevertheless, The Accidental Courtesan by Cheryl Ann Smith does have some things that will appeal to fans of historical romance, including passion, mystery and intrigue, a fast-paced plot, and a dashing and worldly hero who knows how to work with his hands.
