I liked this story. It was realistic enough, sometimes too much for my personal taste in romance. I read love stories to get away from reality but it's good to step out of my comfort zone and read something that actually "could" have happened. It was told in first person and had much historic detail woven in. I do not normally read this type of romance, from the Native Indian side of romance bc of the tragedy of those time and how the Native Americans were treated. It is hard for me personally to read those hardships - having some family stories passed down to me from my maternal grandmother who was cruelly taken from her "heathen" family and raised in a white home not long after this story was based. That being said and that gave me some preconceived ideas as to what the times were like, I found myself caught up in it, wanting an hea that I was sure couldn't happen, but did. I'm glad I read this love story between a white girl and the boy she loves but who doesn't understand the very prejudices she faces having chosen this path. They grow up together during a time of change but manage to stay in love despite the difficulties they faced. It is a fast paced story which will walk you through what could have happened to a mixed race couple from that era. I'd recommend this story on that basis, keeping in kind the period written about was hard to live, and teaches that love can triumph. My grandmother was eventually reunited with her real family and managed to retain her heritage but not without some difficulty. This is why i read the story bc I know that people can rise above their circumstances as I was told my grandmother did. I'd recommend this as a keeper, but it is not a sappy love story that's for sure!

It is ridiculous how much I loved this book. I would have immediately read it again, except that I would know when the sad parts are coming, and I couldn't bear to go through them again. There were several things I found far-fetched, but I will forgive them because I loved the book that much. There is a whole lot of love, danger, adventure, nail-biting, grit, and tears stuffed into these exciting, fast-moving pages. This is the kind of book that makes it hard for me to move onto another author's book.

OMG!OMG!! LOVED LOVED LOVED this book!!!!! When I read this book it soooooo touched me. This entire series is one that that is riveting. It begins with this book Reckless Heart. It is a bittersweet tale of two lovers Hannah and Shadow, who are caught between two worlds that are at war with each other. As children they played together innocently and as teens and adults they feel in love . It's a riveting tale that will touch your soul and stir a passion inside you that you can't ever forget. Once you start you can't stop, you must read the entire Reckless Series. I read all five books in four days.

I have to start by saying OMG, I am totally hooked on Native American historical romance. I usually read Regency historical because it's one my favorite categories but now I may just change my mind after reading Shadow and Hannah's story. I was captivated from the begging of this story and I kept on reading until I was done. Give this book a chance you wont be disappointed.

It was a good book, no doubt about that. However, it dragged on enough that by the time I reached Chapter 10 I knew I couldn't finished the novel, so I stopped reading it altogether. =0/

This book was my first ever Historical Romance Novel, and I loved it. I can not tell you how many times I have read this book, as well as the other books in the series. Because of Hannah and Shadow, I developed a true love for the Native Americans. Such a proud and brave people, Madeline Baker tells their story in a way that can't be described. This book will forever be my favorite book and I will continue to read it over and over again.
Madeline baker has done it again. Wonderful story and her knowledge of Indian history is amazing. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to start book 2 of 4. I highly recommend it especially native American history buffs.
