I’m loving these stories. I read them at a nearby nursing home and the short tales are just right for the residents. It’s both a rehab and trauma center so I read to severely impaired adults ranging in age from 30s to 90s. Average age is probably 65. Everyone is touched by these sweet tales.

This book is a combination of short tales wrapped up in the theme of the fruits of the spirit. I have really enjoyed the spiritual insights, humor and just sitting down to read a text that is down to earth. No bologna. True human feelings, experiences and insights that have helped me along my own faith journey. It is the perfect bedtime, lunch break or waiting in a doctor's office text. You can read a brief section and know your getting a good dose of spiritual food and not missing some climax to a dramatic story. I normally read this before bed. I gave it five stars because of the fact that it fits both my busy lifestyle and fills my spiritual needs as well.

He makes me laugh. His stories hit a cord with me. Short tales by a Quaker minister with a sense of humor, a good wife and interesting characters. Always positive.

Really have enjoyed all of Phil Gulley's books including this one and the "Front Porch Tales" books. Great to read the short stories with my Grandma. Usually includes amusing anecdotes and down to earth observations on our ever-changing world and our relationship with God and man.

My cousin attended seminary with the author and gave me this book for Christmas. As an afterthought I picked it up four days ago and now have read all but the last story--
You will be captivated by how easy these stories are to read, yet how deep of meaning they carry. I now know what books I will be giving to people for the next year.
My favorite and the story I often retell to folks (over the phone even) is "The Clothesline." It's full of chuckles.
Simple messages about the fruit of the spirit that are heart warming and inspirational. The keen insights are refreshing and poignant.
Keep writing Philip!
