This was one text book for my Introduction to the New Testament course at the University of South Carolina while I was working on my BA in Religious Studies back in 2005. Today I reordered it, realizing that though I read quite a bit, it is nice to have a basic introduction to concepts and the writings on hand. You can't remember everything. I think I only retained about 10% of some of those courses my freshman year, it was like drinking water from a fire-hose.

As for the review entitled "O ye of little faith!", please don't let this sway anyone for picking up this textbook for their personal education and spiritual growth. Just understand that the material is not devotional in nature, it is academic. I initially found that troubling when I began by studies coming from a conservative evangelical background. I had never looked at scripture critically. I had never been encouraged to. The topic and methodologies discussed in this text are those that every seminarian of most denominations is familiar with.

All and all a great introduction.

This book has been used for years in New Testament classes, and it is engaging even for those who seek a study guide outside a formal class.

This is a reference for a new Bible Study at the beginning of the year. I liked the size print and the historical approach and many pictures are included. A good price too.

Anatomy of the NT is an excellent book for the beginning student or Christian who is looking to deepen his or her understanding of scripture. The format is easy to follow and understand. One unique feature is that the author has addressed pertinent questions about various biblical issues and then gives the reader an answer(s) based on many different findings (All of which are "bible" based.)

Obviously, AOTNT has been well received since it is already on its 6th edition and has been around for approximately 4 decades.

I picked up the 4th edition of this wonderful book quite by chance at a used book sale. I was thoroughly impressed by both it's scholarship and also the simple, easy-to-follow-along format in which the entirety of the NT was presented. That this book is published by McMillan and Co., a secular publisher, is equally surprising, and is indicative of how well-received this book has been by those never before exposed to the reality of the Biblical gospel message for today. If you want to better witness your faith Biblically to non-Christians, reading this book, next to your Bible, will give you the needed motivation and the "know-how." I strongly recommend this book!!

Easy to read and information that provided deep thinking.
This book is for you if you're a friend of the German school of unbelief. Or if you're a fan of the Jesus seminar. According to these authors, Jesus wasn't sure of his role, the gospels weren't written by the Apostles, the church inserted words in Jesus's mouth, and so on. Taken to its logical conclusion, one would have to believe that Jesus was a raving lunatic and the "authors" of the false gospels were liars ranking alongside the the recent star of the New York Times. No thanks. I'd rather believe the accounts of those living within 100 years of these events, not this work from disbelieving scholars of the 20th century. Thankfully, I bought this book used!
