If you are stuck trying to figure out how to fix something specific on a photo, this is a great book to have around. The book is well organized into chapters (Intro, the organizer, basic editing, image manipulation, using selections, layers & masks, text & shapes, special effects, printing, and the web). Each chapter provides a step-by-step 'project' that goes through the concept so you can see how it works. The chapters also give helpful suggestions to make your steps easier and improve your workflow. A handy section is the list of keyboard shortcuts as a reference until you learn them. The index is also useful if you want to look up specifics, such as how to remove noise. Especially useful was the section explaining how the organizer works, as this was a new concept for me since I have only been working with the photo editing capabilities of the program. I found this book to be much better organized than Photo Restoration and Retouching Using Corel PaintShop Photo Pro, Second Edition and it provided a more solid foundation to build your knowledge upon, not wasting 25 pages to convince you that the program is amazing and why you should buy it.

This book is not well laid out, contains confusing and spotty information and lacks step by step follow through. The illustrations are poor and practically unreadable (way too small, hap hazard, and often never matching the text. The author is obviously knowledgeable, but needs plenty of help in editing/publishing.

The book is quite unorganized and thoroughly frustrating when you try to follow it through a process. Maybe it could help with some finer details of the more basic functions, but if you want to expand your knowledge and use of Corel Paint Shop, it likely won't help a bit..... other than introduce you to something and then leave you with the same questions you had before you read the chapter. Again, there must be better resources out there.

I bought this book to help learn the features of PSProX3. I had used Elements for some years, but thought PSProX3 was a better product. I was wrong in choosing PSProX3 and in the book. The book does a very bad job of explaining HOW to actually do anything. The book spends a lot of time talking about what can be done, but doesn't do a very good job of actually showing how to do anything. The book spends time at the ends of some chapters with labs, but one can not duplicate what the book explains as the files used in the explanations are not available. Also, the index is very lacking. If you try to find things, such as, "Crop" , it isn't in the index. Try to get a list of "Tools" and you can't.I am very disappointed with this book and with the product it discusses. I have gone back to Elements.

This worked well until some of the functions stopped performing and the work space scrambled. I had to reload the software to correct that, only to have the problem repeat. I suspect an update to my system might be at fault, but Corel will no longer offer or provide support for this version of Paintshop Pro, so I'm having to use it with reduced functionality. If it still worked as expected it would be a nice program, but unfortunately that isn't the case, and I'll undoubtedly be forced to upgrade when I can afford to do so.

I needed something I could take my time to read and understand about the Corel program offline. This book did the trick.

I already own the PaintShop Photo Pro X2 Ultimate Edition Program. Unlike many other reviewers, I was thrilled with it. I never got so much value in a computer program for so little money. Really!

Look, I'm just an amateur photographer and local photography club member - aspiring to maybe make a few bucks taking pictures. I own a Canon Rebel EOS XSi. Only 12.1 Megapixels (cropped sensor)and five decent lenses. So weigh my opinions against my limited qualifications.

"PhotoShop Photo Pro X3 for Photographers" is useful for learning even X2 as well as the X3 update. For me, it has inspired me to purchase the X3 Program.

I'm not going to detail or rate these new photographic controls. Read the description above.

If you are thinking of purchasing a Photo Editor read this book first. If you are rich and/or a successful photographer, then go ahead and spend all that money for everything Adobe has to offer. Coral has a long way to beat Adobe. None the less, I give Coral FIVE STARS for producing a viable alternative at a sensible price. It is so much better than Google's "Picasa" that it isn't worth the comparison. I also give FIVE STARS to this book because it really simplifies using this program and it also reaches back to include the earlier version. Beyond all that, this book will give the reader insight into photo editing in general. Please read this book before you purchase a Photo Editor.
