Only 5 left! Book Format: Paperback. When the therapeutic relationship is there, when client and counsellor have trust in each other, getting it 'wrong' isn't a catastrophe and, if acknowledged and worked with, can act to deepen the relationship (just as long as it's not too often wrong). Phew! This is undoubtedly one of the books I will be returning to again and again. Rimmer, April 3, 2016.

Working at Relational Depth in Counselling Psychotherapy.

Working at Relational Depth in Counseling and Psychotherapy is a groundbreaking text which goes to the very heart of the therapeutic meeting between therapist and client. Focusing on the concept of ′relational depth,′ authors Dave Mearns and Mick Cooper describe a form of encounter in which therapist and client experience profound feelings of contact and engagement with each other and in which the client has an opportunity to explore whatever is experienced as most fundamental to her or his existence.

This is a must-have for any counselor or therapist that recognizes the relational space between counselor and client as 'the' agent of change. The concept of relational depth is one I have continually found beneficial and illuminating as I continue to grow and expand in my clinical work. It is a refreshing read in a time when 'technique' and quick, surface-level fixes continue to gain emphasis and focus within our culture and systems.

This is a wonderful book that presents an innovative and far reaching approach to therapeutic change.
It is also a very readible and accesible book, altough well documented and researched.
It presents an approach for working very effectively and with a lot of sense with adolescents and adults from a position that is called "relational depth".
Im a clinical psychologist and the book opened new areas for me.
I think it should be of interest for person-centred, existentially and humanistic therapist, altough the authors said this approach could be utilized by many therapists or facilitators.
I recomend it with all my heart.
