Series: Emerging Global Issues. Paperback: 230 pages. I found this book extremely helpful in better understanding the historical and current relationship between the developing world and the developed world.
Series: Emerging Global Issues. Publisher: Lynne Rienner Pub (March 1, 1995). The author explores the effect of internal and external variables, including international norms, colonialism, pre- and post-Cold War issues and effects. As my professor explained to me, this is one of the few books that attempt to inform the North about Southern issues, from a South perspective. 3 people found this helpful.
Mohammed Ayoob's excellent volume, The Third World Security Predicament: State Making, Regional Conflict .
Hence, the book grows out of, and must be evaluated against, the comparative politics literature on state formation, and the more narrow International Relations debate concerning how we should conceptualize 'security'. Ayoob's contribution to both these debates is nuanced, distinctive, and in some respects flawed.
