Preus served for years on the synodical board of missions in the LCMS. Doctrine is Life: Robert D. Preus Essays on Justification and the Lutheran Confessions. Preus also taught about and fought against the Church Growth Movement by promoting his theology at Concordia Theological Seminary and throughout Lutheranism and Christianity. As president of Concordia Theological Seminary he promoted confessional Lutheran theology. CTQ in memory of Robert David Preus.

This is a fine collection of essays. I recommend this collection without reservation and hope that it finds prominence in every scholarly library. Lutheran Quarterly, December 2008). The quality of the essays in this collection is mixed - from harried to beautifully crafted - and there are some that seem overly defensive and/or hyperbolic in their claims regarding their contribution to the field, but all are informed by rigorous scholarship. Of the Bach chapters, only 3 really cover theological topics - the remainder are musicological essays on religious music.
Robert E. Howard's legacy extended after his death in 1936. Howard's most famous character, Conan the Barbarian, has a pop-culture imprint that has been compared to such icons as Tarzan of the Apes, Count Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, and James Bond. Howard's critical reputation suffered at first but over the decades works of Howard scholarship have been published.
