Super easy to work with and can easily be painte. It’s a nice, light colored piece of wood, and you can really make your pieces shine if you pick figured pieces. Maple has a really pretty figure in many of the pieces called curl or quilt. It makes the surface look wavy, and with a finish applied, it really pops. I made a whole set of kids toy tools for my book: Wooden Tools For Kids Westfarthing Woodworks. I used figured maple for the majority of the pieces, and they were not expensive at all.
