Designed for students without a strong background in history, Making Europe is organized around a political chronology to help inexperienced students get a sense of the story of western civilization. Themes of religion, social history, biography and personality, and individual and collective identity enable students to grasp the "big picture." The text's attention to Eastern Europe and thorough coverage of religious history extends right up to the present. The authors' collective experience teaching Western Civilization is evident in the text's carefully designed system of pedagogy that promotes understanding of events and figures of the western past. Focus and review questions, chronologies, key terms and definitions, and chapter summaries help students engage with the material step-by-step, chapter-by-chapter.

This is not a history book, it's a propaganda filled, Cultural Marxist book. It's starts from the cover and just gets worse as you read the internal content. When white people casually dress like another race, it's called cultural appropriation. When a black man is displayed on the cover of European history, it's considered progressive and promoting diversity. Code words for white genocide and revisionist history. Truly shocking and if we don't wake up soon, their revisionist history may really be taught as "fact" one day.

It was well written, detailed, informative, easy to navigate. On that note...
I have no words to describe how torturous this was to read. I know text books arent supposed to be excellent reads but my gosh Ive never struggled to read a book so much in my life. Im not a history fan so this is my warning to future students who are forced to use this textbook for a class. If the class requires alot of reading.... turn back now!!!

The worst part of this book is the cover. Why would Kidner et. al. think that making a black man the visage of a book titled "Making Europe" a good idea? There has to be some limit to political correctness and Kidner flew by that limit. While it contains a reasonable account of European history, this book is as dry as a textbook can be. There is almost nothing in it that breaks the monotony. It also passes over Eastern Europe until the 20th century, giving Ivan the Great a paragraph at the end of a chapter about France and a few pages to Peter the Great and Catherine the Great combined.

Hard to believe, but I found it in a thrift shop and laughed my butt off. The cover was hilarious to me. I read a couple pages and what a slugfest it was. Very boring, poor writing, and just a bad marxist liberal trash. So I took it, threw it in a bonfire i had that night, and watched it burn. Mr. Kidner, please send me some of your books. They make good burning material.
Risinal
Awful attempted rewrite of European History.

How can this book even exist? If I pick up a textbook about the history of sub saharan Africa, should it show a white person on the cover? This is an insult to the intelligence of all people. There was .0001% black presence in Europe in all of European history until very recently when they let open the borders to other races. It insults Europeans because it attempts to erase European history as white people on the continent for 8000 years at least, possibly 60,000 years. This textbook is disgusting propaganda designed to erase the the unique European white people on their own continent. Secondly, Moors were not black!

living outside the US and europe, i can safely condemn this PC slab of leftist trash without having to step down from my job or be persecuted by liberal zealots. europe was not made by africans as the preposterous cover implies. and beethoven is not a black guy. this said, i do not carry hate towards any other race,
but i am amazed at the lengths in groveling, some self-hating westerners will go to, in order to further their self-destructive agenda of politics over learning and culture. there are theater plays of julius ceasar being interpreted by some black guy, as JC.
caesar was white. is there a shortage of good white actors to play caesar?
i am tired of this continuous bashing of whites and historical revisionism that is blatantly being waged against white identity, history and heritage. this book (and cover) are a new low in political correctness, soft totalitarianism, historical rewriting, and political brainwashing via published text.
every race has their god given right to celebrate their heritage and their greatness, past and present, EXCEPT whites. because that's racist. there is a war being waged right now against traditional europe, the modern west and its makers, namely the white people. this war is being helped by the white people who adhere themselves, to the liberal self-hating agenda. this is a pathology that this book cover illustrates like nothing else. it might as well have been an Onion article, except that nope, it is so very real it's scary. wake up europe! your identity, your history and your culture are under attack!
I'm sorry but I just couldn't stop laughing and shaking my head over the politically correct cover of the book long enough to actually read much of it.
