Dream
This has become my new go-to book when I have a new text or concept to teach with the Common Core. Frequently I find strategies and graphic organizers that are TERRIFIC at engaging students interest and really helping them learn skills and concepts. Great for helping students think critically. I heard about this at a seminar on the new ELA Common Core. It was money well-spent.

I use this book all the time to make my college classroom more lively and to serve the purpose of giving my pre-service teachers the notion that they, too, can create a vibrant classroom for their future elementary students. Great teaching and learning is not 'sit and get' and this book gives great instruction to teachers.

This was my first updated edition of the book since the 1995 version. I thought the first edition was outstanding; this one is better with incredible upgrades.
As an instructor in a teacher preparation program at a local college, I refer to and use Doug's strategies and considerations with all of my courses.

Highly recommended for educators in the field or those aspiring to a classroom setting.
