Speaking for Myself book. The book is very self-effacing in some respects - so different from Alist I didn't really have an opinion about Cherie Blair but I gathered the press didn't like her much. Cherie Blair's autobiography takes the reader from a childhood. She interested me from the viewpoint of the unexpected 4th child! 'Speaking for Myself' paints a picture of a well meaning, hard working family-orientated woman marvelling at her good fortune to have a ringside seat on international events for a decade. There's a rank, rumbling misogyny at work in the nation's attitude to Cherie Blair, in among the more legitimate complaints about poor taste and vast sums of money. 432pp, Little, Brown, £1. 9. I've always hated that woman," offered an elderly man glimpsing the book on my lap on a recent train journey. Why? "She's got a horrible mouth. It's ironic, then, that Speaking for Myself appears to have so spectacularly misfired in its main aim: to counter some of that irrational hostility.

Very interesting book. It starts with her childhood and how her father left and she and her mother lived with her father's parents, as she and her mother had no money. How she worked her way up and became a lawyer when there wasn't many women in that profession. She then met Tony Blair, etc etc etc. I liked it because it's her life story.

I sort of knew who Cherie Blair was, but after reading this I am so impressed with Mrs. Blair. Her path from childhood through law school and into Number 10 is amazing as it is human. Mrs. Blair admits her mistakes, and is then humble with her triumphs. If someone is looking for a strong female bio that doesn't involve a sex tape this is it. I read and re-read it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of inspiration.
