This not-quite a coffee table size book is a handful though. It is filled to the brim with both color and black and white photos of the subjects being discussed. The paper is a definite plus, a nice, medium-weight gloss that displays all of the art to its best advantage. There is no flimsiness to this and it is definitely not a bedside reader.

I can easily say that this book can replace many of the film industry tell-all's that I own. In that respect, one needn't a shelf full of film books to get a good education on the complete history of film and famous actors, directors and movies. It's a definite must-have for a well-rounded film book collection.

I guess I should have realized from the title that this wouldn't be a comprehensive and in-depth guide. It is a good overview of film history and important movies for those just coming to know classic cinema. Otherwise, it is a bit basic and leaves a lot to be desired. The photos are great, the paper glossy, it's just that the message is a bit on the thin side.

But it is a nice, informative book. Packed with useful information for those who are looking up this kind of information.

I bought this as a gift for my grandson--I hear he reads it every night. Loaded with facts and pictures.

At less than 2 dollars, so what about shipping and handling? This almost feels like a steal. After checking it out at the library, I wanted my own copy.

I'm not saying anything new, but quite necessary for the dedicated film buff. Wel'l written and absorbing.
Awesome book!
