Best quilt block book out there. My best friend has this book and I've borrowed it so many times I had to get a copy for myself. Shows each block, best and fastest cuts, how much and what kind of each fabric you'll need, variations on color schemes for each block and exact numbers of everything you'll need. Great chapters explaining what to do with quilt squares; ie how to make pillows, wall hangings, quilts, quilt bags, baby quilts, etc. This book is a must have for any quilter, beginner to advanced.

My daughter bought this book from a local book store. It is apparently now out of print and was impossible to find anywhere. I was so glad to find it on Amazon.com in the "used books" section. The book has so many ideas for making easy, basic quilts, and you can combine as few or as many different designs as you want because all of the finished blocks shown are the same size. I only have 3 quilting books and feel my library is complete with this one. The author breaks down the math for you, telling you how much fabric you need for each block, and contains a lined sketch that works very well when scanned onto your computer to use software such as Paint Shop Pro. I scanned each fabric piece, then added them to my computer's library, and was able to "paint" the fabric onto the sketch so I could see what each block would look like...BEFORE ever cutting anything. Has truly helped me decide on what colors go with what. This book is a must have and is well worth the $$!!!

Very useful for novice and experienced quilters. Although an older book, it is very current and up to date with content.

I especially appreciated the little touches in this book, like showing the variations that can be acheived in each block by rearranging light and dark fabrics, showing how some blocks can be used together to create secondary patterns, and including standard quilt size info along with fabric yardage requirements. I bought this book to use in making a scrap/memory quilt out of the leftovers of all the projects I have done for my family over the years. Since each block in the book is 9 inches finished, I can do one block at a time over a long period of time, and not worry that they won't fit together. Great book! I highly recommend it!!

This book has a great variety of 9 1/2" blocks (9 inch finished). If you wanted to make a block a different size you'd have to redraft it. Many beginning and intermediate piecing classes teach students to make a sampler from 9" blocks. This book is a natural next step to continue adding to one's repertoire without having to experiment with too-tiny pieces. An excellent book for different sized blocks is "Around the Block with Judy Hopkins". I found it to be a good companion to "Block Party".

Pages contain information about 9" blocks. This includes a finished picture of the block, a graphed block, Rotary cutting instructions of fabric colours and sizes, assembly of the units within the block and shaded optional variations of finished block assemblies. The next section includes different considerations involved in designing your own quilt. Lastly there are detailed pictures and instructions for construction of the projects offered. This is a fantastic reference book for beginners and designers.

Used this book for challenge quilts this year, and it was a great success. Read instructions carefully as there are some unique measurements to consider.
This book is a great addition to any quilter's library!
