Do not buy this edition! It has no table of contents, no index and no page numbers! If you are not just reading it cover to cover, forget it, you chat find anything. I tried to use it with History Odyssey level 2 and have to buy a different edition so I can find what they are referring to, otherwise I am actually counting headings page by individual page to find things!

The book I received looks more like a preprint draft rather than a complete product. Editing needs more work and there is absolutelly no ilustrations even thought these are refered in the text. Read the reviews below that gave this text a low rate and you will know what it is. Unfortunatelly for me I tend to read the high rate reviews and ignore the rest, in this case I regret of such custom .

I ordered this version of The Story of Mankind for one of my high school students. The words are extremely small and difficult to read, even for my students. Because the version that I purchased for myself is sold out, I am forced to keep this copy. I will allow my student to use my copy and try my best to read from this book. I certainly wouldn't recommend this version to anyone.

This version (ISBN 9781503295018) of a great book is totally worthless! Do not buy it. Compared to the original, it has no table of contents, no index, no illustrations, no chapter numbers, and NO PAGE NUMBERS! The last few chapters were even omitted! Bad. Bad. Bad. There is no way we can use this for our class discussion. Stick only with the original printing. If Amazon accepted ratings with zero stars, I would have given it a rating of zero.

I just bought this book to use as a portion of our homeschool history curricullum. However this versionof the book (ISBN-13: 978-1153721998) also has little or no editing. There are whole sentences missing and some sentences stop mid line then continued on the next line. We can't make sense of it so I have purchaed an original text with illustrations. Hopefully it won't contain these errors and I can write an actual review on the material in the book.

I ordered THIS book, it's brand new (last page says it was 'made' 20 Sept, 2015- the DAY I ordered it). There are NO pictures, at all. However, there is a paragraph in Sumerians that says, "...In the same way and ox changed from {illust.} into {illust.} and a fish changed from {illust.} into {illust.} The sun was originally a plain circle {illust.} and became {illust}..." Just like that. No pictures, just 'illust.' where a picture should be.

Even a paragraph at the end of the book talks about how they omitted photographs in favor of drawings-which is fine, but there are NO drawings, NO maps- nothing! Oh, no page numbers, and no index, either
I bought this book to use with History Odyssey, a homeschool history program. While the writing itself is excellent, the book appears to be a cheap knock-off of the original. There are no illustrations- something the original book was known for. Also, there are no page numbers, which makes searching through the book very difficult. Bypass this version of the book and find the illustrated copy- you won't regret it.
