My husband and I were staying at a fancy canyon inn in Arizona. I spied this book on the shelf. My husband had to pry me out of the building because all I wanted to do was read this book. It is truly amazing. All
of the chance meetings, the length people went to be together even for a brief time. Never knowing if they would ever see each other again. Their lives together of ordinary Americans. Not all were happily ever after.

I like to give this book as a 50th Anniversary present because fifty stories are represented. I gave a large print one to our local library.
I gave one to a young lady who is trying so hard to make her marriage work. I thought she would glean some of the secrets of many of these couples. It is the kind of book that every couple (any age) should read once a year.

And who would ever thought that Larry King would compile such a book..........

Back again! Last night I read that Larry King died who was actually an author. Here I thought it was Larry King of TV fame. So this morning I checked it out and it said that Larry King of TV fame actually wrote the above book. Whew!

Tender "love stories" about people going off to war, leaving loved ones behind, and beginning a part of their lives that they couldn't have imagined. Some survived, some didn't. Suffice to say that THE WAR changed everyone who was involved in the actual fighting.

Love Stories of World War II is a very moving collection of short stories about young men meeting and falling in love with young ladies as they serve their country. The young ladies often had to wait extended time for their young men to return and endured hardships. Sometimes it was years they waited. I was moved by the statement "she was the most beautiful girl in the room". You could tell the man was telling the story.

Featured in this great collection is the story of Pat and Charles Lee - my in-laws. Chuck just passed away 4/13/2014 - he was married to Patricia one month shy of 70 years - Love conquers all - they were shining examples of the American Dream. I had to have a spare copy.
