And the book seems to view the firm as all-powerful. That characterization might make S&C lawyers happy - it’s good for business - but the authors sometimes forget that what they are writing about is just an often dull law firm.

Dulles does Europe, not just for Dulleses. Earlier, Panama too.

This book is essential for understanding the later growth of the National Security State and must be read in tandem with Christopher Simpson's great book The Splendid Blonde Beast. They really complement each other perfectly. And they are in no way redundant.
