The study of neurology and neurosurgery dates back to prehistoric times, but the academic disciplines did not begin until the 16th century

The study of neurology and neurosurgery dates back to prehistoric times, but the academic disciplines did not begin until the 16th century. From an observational science they developed a systematic way of approaching the nervous system and possible interventions in neurological disease. The Incas appear to have practiced trepanning since the late Stone age, a method that is compared to similar techniques used today.

Brain surgery is no joke and what we have learned is there is a huge difference between just a really good brain surgeon, and the best in the world especially when it comes to doctor Lawton’s expertise in AVM and aneurysm treatment. I’ve also been in four different hospitals in a year and a half, as we have gone through this and when it comes to the surgery process from beginning to end Doctor Lawton’s team, doctor Washington (anesthesia) was amazing, the residents were great, and.

This book was interesting and informative book, although a little dated as it was written in the 1980's. It is focuses on the what goes on at one major New York hospital whose specialty is treating people with neurological issues. It gives insights on the operations from the Doctor's and patient's point of view and is very reader friendly with very little technical language. I learned a lot and would recommend this for the reader who just wants to get basic information on brain surgery and how the brain handles language and other basic functions necessary for communication and for a person to function on a daily basis.
