Also another thing that was disconcerting was the format of the book, which was just so choppy because sometimes point of views changed every two paragraphs from Marco's to Sophie's then back to Marco in like a single page, and it was very jarring and it was kind of hard to shift back and forth.

Good story with a caring sweet hero and after a confidence boost from him a very sassy independent heroine accepting of her regular features but finally learning to take pride in her generous figure..need more hp with full figured ladies..after all we out number the image of what a ladies expected to look like today..thin as a rail and photoshopped to h........ lol

Our less attractive heroine is only acceptable because the hero was disillusioned by his beautiful ex-wife (who he moans about constantly), but fortunately the heroine is good at party organization. *rolls eyes*

great storyline, great characters, great writing! keeps your attention from beginning to end. love it when the not-so-obvious girl gets the guy. more than a skin-deep romance.

Unlike some of the other Balfour brides, the heroine Sophie Balfour is a likeable person from the start, the "less pretty" Balfour in the background. The hero isn't a surprise, except that he is pretty oblivious to the family scandals and so doesn't have any preconceived notions about the inner workings of a Balfour girl. I enjoyed this one better than most of the prior Balfour novels. Its surprising that so many different authors can combine to write a pretty good series of romances. I wasn't familiar with Kim Lawrence's previous books, but I'll look for her name in the future.

A wonderful story. I always love books based in Italy with the history and of course the hero is Always stunningly gorgeous....

This book stayed true to the other books that go with the series plus it went by fast without one even knowing it.

Sophie's employer sent her to Italy to meet Marco and give him a sales pitch to decorate his villa. Sophie the ugly duckly of the Balfour clan took one look at handsome, super rich, alpha male Marco and sparks were flying. This book was ok but not great. Not much conflict, lots of internal dialog and it lagged. I kept flicking my kindle pages at the speed of light. Not one of Kim Lawrence's best. I gave it three stars because I didn't fall asleep reading it.
I loved the heroine's sassy mouth, the waterbed and even the broken hero because all together they made this book a terrific read.

Sophie Balfour is the wallflower sibling. She's hidden from herself for what seems like forever and fate and her father had had enough. The poor girl was kicked out of her family home to find her path in life and she ended up finding so much more. What did it take to get this mouse of a girl to turn into a virago vixen? A man, of course. I had so much fun reading about Sophie's reaction to Marco. She reminded me of a hissing kitten - with all her fur sticking straight up and back arched. The things she said to him and his reactions to her were grin-worthy and oftentimes hysterically funny. When she figures out that she has seductive powers over Marco, she blossoms and there were many wonderful scenes of them together as she explored her fledgling skills of love.

Marco is one of those rich men who was badly treated by a woman - a typical gold digger with a low standard of morals. He's emotionally damaged and he feels he has no hope of ever being truly happy. His heart is stuck in a frigid wasteland and business is all he focuses on. You know that saying, "You can never go home again"? Well, that is what Marco thought until a strange set of circumstances thrust Sophie into his life. Once she got her way and spread her influence within the walls of his home, she not only proved he could go back home but it would eventually be better than it ever was. The journey getting to that point however is where all the great action happens.

One of the things I liked about this book is the dance of their romance. It was a slow buildup and a reader can see their feelings for each other growing although neither recognizes what they truly mean to each other until an external dramatic event occurs. At that moment it was like ripping off a band-aid only to realize that the wound had healed sometime ago, they just needed the courage to face their feelings and admit it out loud. What a poignant moment!

Sophie and the Scorching Sicilian is a totally entertaining romance with a lot of heart, fun, tender emotion and some awesome seduction scenes. When the author titled this book "Scorching Sicilian", she wasn't kidding. I adored the waterbed scene because for me it captured the essence of the relationship between Sophie and Marcus. There's a naughty and nice vibe going on that really hit my happy buttons. I think readers are going enjoy reading this book as I most certainly have. It's a well written romance with a happily ever after just the way I like them. I think Marco's final line says it all. Read it and see.
