Now We Are Sixty book. Only bright spots are excellent illustrations by David Eccles.

Now We Are Sixty book. A wonderful present to sixty-year-olds' Auberon Waugh, Daily Telegraph. Oct 19, 2008 Boocwyrm rated it really liked it.

Christopher Matthew, David Eccles. When Christopher was six, the poems of Milne were always on hand to reassure him that other children were just as puzzled and naughty and silly as he was, and that grown-ups could be even sillier. Apr 10, 2017 Dark-Draco rated it did not like it.

The previous owner has certainly very much enjoyed reading this book more than once, therefore please be aware there will be some creasing on the spine or slight shelf wear. If it's been in their collection for some time, say years old or more, some pages might be discoloured and there may be other minor age blemishes, but that won't affect its readability.

Now We Are Sixty is often hilarious, sometimes rueful and always thought-provoking. Some verses are about realising we are not as young as we thought, while some are about the more disconcerting problems of modern life; mobile telephones on trains, anti-social behaviour, traffic jams and the internet. My mother gave me "Now We Are Six" on my sixth birthday and I loved it and nearly had it all by memory. This version is a hoot! What a joy. I wish Mother had seen this.

I was thinking one day, in the supermarket parking lot, about the fact was that I was now 66 instead of 6. I thought, someone should do an update on Now We are Six. I figured it was such a good idea, someone had probably done it, and sure enough someone had, and had done a super job of it.

I bought this for all my friends who turned 60 this year. They loved it, but be warned; they need to be an AA Milne fan who is familiar with the children's poems in 'When We Were Very Young' and 'Now We Are Six' to appreciate the peoms in this book.

First edition made a great gift

Excellently done, I had purchased it before but wanted a copy for myself

Since I grew up with A A Milne I thought I would like this one too, it is good but obviously nothing like the original I had expectations and I shouldn't have had.
White gold
Charming, well-done parodies of AA Milne's children's poetry with all the existential angst of failing health, body parts and sexual prospects. (Best if you can recite bits of the original by heart.)
