I will Always give Mrs. Jeffries a 5 star rating! The plots are simple: the Inspector has a murder to solve, his household staff goes to work gathering clues and passing them along through his Constable. Simple, easy and uncomplicated. Except the details are never uncomplicated. They twist and turn and hold the reader's interest. Although every book stands alone, the characters do grow and change and have lives that are lived out as the series progresses. Along the way, the reader even learns some things about the Victorian era's culture. The Mrs. Jeffries series by Emily Brightwell is perfect reading for fun, for a summer afternoon, before bed, and when you want to enjoy a good book.

Again all the books are wonderful

Enjoyed this book as much as I have enjoyed all the others in the Mrs. Jeffries series! They are very entertaining and haven't disappointed. Sometimes you can guess who the murderer is but not how they did it- and sometimes you can't "finger" him/her!!!

I enjoy a simple story that is not too long, and the good cop is always a good cop

I've always enjoyed a good mystery, especially when they have enough unexpected twists to keep my mind working! The 'Mrs Jeffries and The Inspector' series may be old-style and set in Victorian England, but they're a good enjoyable read without becoming gory or too explicit.
I am slowly acquiring the entire series. These are wonderful reads. If you pay careful attention you may be able to figure it out on your own, but it so well written that I get caught up in the plot and happily follow the storyline to the end. Always a satisfactory ending.
