One fee. Stacks of books.

Written in 1882, Kept in the Dark is a compelling story of jealousy, obstinacy and marital estrangement. Strong-minded Cecelia Holt cannot bring herself to tell George Western of her previous engagement to Sir Francis Geraldine. When her husband learns the truth, their marriage seems to be headed for disaster. The story has a painful contemporary moral which would today raise troubling questions regarding the submission of wives to their husbands.
Comments to eBook Kept in the Dark (The World's Classics)
Antuiserum
Another good read by Trollope. Another of his books about proud and stubborn people and the messes they can make. She doesn't tell the truth and he assumes the worst when he finds out. Could easily be translated to many of today's broken relationships.
Ballazan
Another great story from Trollope about a man and a woman getting married and the woman not telling her husband about a previous lover and the problems coming from it,life back then was so different than today.

This book had more of a mystery to it, and appealed to me in that respect. One had to wonder why she kept her secret for so long, when she had so many opportunities to reveal it. I still found it good reading, hoping that she would tell him at each meeting - and she didn't. But, it was an entertaining read, and a mischievous ending.

This volume of Kept in the Dark, an otherwise delightful Trollope novel, was exceptionally poorly produced. No page numbers, abundant typographical errors, poor and confusing formating, paragraphs skewed all about. I absolutely do not recommend it, and wish there was something less than one star with which to rate this particular edition.

Kept in the Dark by Anthony Trollope. Published by MobileReference (mobi).

Trollope uses this novel to show that honesty and integrity are not just virtues - they are essentials. Trollope's characters come to the end of this short novel stronger, more true, and still married. And those who are untrue are exposed along the way.

I like amything written by Anthony Trollope. You don[t have to go through the sexual content that so many of the books have now. He was able to write a book with a plot and show the sexual parts of the book without vulgarity.

This an old school love story, vey old school:Victorian Era. The book moves slowly, however it is a very good love story.
Trollope is a great author, but this one is only fair. My best guess is that he was phoning it in (or whatever was the equivalent during Victorian times).

Still, it beats a lot of modern writing. The writing is first rate, but some points just keep being repeated in what I can only guess is an effort to lengthen the book
