John Spada publicly runs an enormous multi-national corporation, privately. Morris West is a terrific story-teller but I should remember that from the previous Morris West books I have read albeit a long time ago. John Spada, son of a large and established Italian family, is the head of a hugely successful business in New York but his daughter has decided to marry a Argentinian who speaks out against the establishment and the disappearances.

Proteus by Morris West. Proteus is especially relevant in an America that has been rocked by the terroristic havoc of September 11th, a second day that will live in infamy in our history. The reader is forced to judge the protagonist-is he a hero or is he a terrorist? For every individual who understands that the individual is the smallest minority and is a minority whose rights must be inviolate beyond any consideration of a "greater good" defined by political or economic terms or situations, Proteus is a beacon of clarity of these issues.
Morris L. West's Proteus. I first read Proteus about 20 years ago, after reading West's Shoes of the Fisherman. I read his other books after this, and then one day, quite by accident, I came upon Proteus. Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 18 years ago. I was spellbound by Proteus.
Morris West wrote 30 books and many plays, and several of his novels were adapted for film. Each new book he wrote after he became an established writer sold more than one million copies. No part of this book may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, including photocopying, recording or by any information storage and retrieval system, without prior permission in writing from the publisher. Iron-fisted Pope Leo XIV emerges from open heart surgery with the chilling realisation that his reforms have devastated the Church. From his headquarters in New York, he directs enterprises around the world with military precision. As he struggles to overcome the policies he himself put in place, he must battle enemies from within the Vatican, as well as Islamic terrorists determined to assassinate him.
