The Society for the Suppression of Vice was a 19th-century English society dedicated to promoting public morality. It was established in 1802 as a successor of the Society for the Reformation of Manners, and continued to function until 1885. I suspect this is largely because Richard Cohen also contributed to the book. His columns are filled with innuendo and outright logical fallacies and I suspect some of this sloppiness crept into the parts of the book on which he worked. 10 people found this helpful.
