Auster has written a sublime soap opera about the ways in which people abandon and save one another. He captures a historical moment, our twisted America, and he offers a message of hope. Love will save us. We will save each other. The human stories become richer when seen in the light of the future, but don't really seem unimportant.

I love Rayne Auster. While romance really isn't my all time favorite genre, I can't help but get caught up in the paranormal romance and ones with pretty boys. Tapestry for Love follows closely to what Auster is known for, good plot, good action, good 'scenes'.

Aislinn is a jaded dream weaver who's lover died thousands of years ago, unfortunately when you're an immortal that long is barely scraping the surface. Keith is a history teacher who keeps having dreams of him in old fashioned clothing, or of a man with dark black hair and silver eyes. His last lover called him crazy, and his sister swears he's seeing memories of his past lives. Aislinn is asked to weave a dream for a mortal from the king himself. While weaving he allows his thoughts to wander, just who is this mortal and why is this simple dream so special that it calls for a master dream weaver such as himself? By the time Aislinn realizes what he's done it's too late. He wove himself into the mortal's dream, an unforgivable crime. His punishment? Not execution though that is typical, no his punishment is to be turned into a mortal and retain all of his memories. If you're following a typical love story you can figure out these two meet up right? Correct, but this story is also about Brigid, Aislinn's boss/little sister character/busy body, who knows more then she lets on. It's about a betrayal that spans centuries, and what truly happened to Keith's past life that has caused people to want to kill him to keep his memories sealed.

Whew... as I stated Auster is a master of plot and steam. It's an easy read and a typical boy romance with a paranormal flare. If you're into beautiful boy novels then you want to pick up this author.

On one hand it is beatifully written, the story just flows so well. I also loved how author developed the book's mythology, mixing up well known elements with something that I am assuming she came up, it was just fun to read about it.

On the other hand, I have a serious aversion to the love story where characters are played by somebody else as chess pieces.

Aislin was given no choice in the matter whatsoever, wasn't he? I mean, I guess what I am trying to say is that I respect the way author decided to write her story, but while leads had great chemistry and sex was hot, I wanted to strangle Brigit so much I hated her, best intentions or not.

So hard to grade it based on something so subjective as my dislike of manipulative character, but I suppose since I think of my reactions as valid and I so dislike reading about puppets, four stars it is.

This book is well paced and smooth. The balance of the characters and the story setting blended well.
