Born Gillian Bliss, she was educated at St. Michael's Convent, North Finchley, London, and she read English Literature at St Anne's College, Oxford. She lives in Cambridge. In 1961, she married Antony Paton Walsh (died 30 December 2003); the couple had one son and two daughters

Jill Paton Walsh was born Gillian Bliss on April 29, 1937 in London. She graduated from St. Anne's College in Oxford. Her adult works include Knowledge of Angels, The Serpentine Cave, and A School for Lovers. She taught at the Enfield Girls' Grammar School for three years and was a permanent visiting faculty member for the Center for Children's Literature at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She was also an adjunct British board member of Children's Literature New England. She is the author of the Imogen Quy Mystery series and the Lord Peter Wimsey Mystery series. She was elected as fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 1996.
I've read Jill Paton Walsh Imogen Quy novels and loved them, this was different, in that it's main setting was Cornwall, and not crime fiction but similarly brought its setting to life. Well rounded characters and an unsolved puzzle made me read into the night.
