Green Grass of Wyoming is a 1948 American western drama film, directed by Louis King, starring Peggy Cummins and Charles Coburn. The screenplay, written by Martin Berkeley, is based on the third book in the popular, "My Friend Flicka" trilogy, written by Mary O'Hara. The movie follows the further adventures of the McLaughlin family who live on a horse ranch in Wyoming. The original cast from the first two films did not reprise their roles in the third.
Green Grass of Wyoming is the third book of the My "Friend Flicka" stories. Again the characters (including horses) are marvelous. The examples of parenting and a quiet, real-life relationship to God are outstanding. The historical perspective is grand. Mary O'Hara is a masterful author and storyteller. Wonderful book, conclusion of Mary O'Hara trilogy that begins with MY FRIEND FLICKA and THUNDERHEAD. Ken finds a girlfriend, Carey. Thunderhead escapes from The Valley of Horses after poison grasses kill his band, and antagonizes ranchers in Southern Wyoming by stealing their mares to form a new band.
Green Grass of Wyoming book. The conclusion to the Flicka trilogy, Mary O'Hara's Green Grass of Wyoming is a wonderful culmination of the previous two stories' plot lines. In this novel, Thunderhead is on a mare-stealing rampage along the Rockies, and must be stopped. Ken, now a young man, must overcome his fears and uncertainties as he works to track down the rogue stallion. His desire to find the stallion wars with his newfound friendship with one of the stolen mare's owners, young Carey.

Title: Green Grass of Wyoming (1948). The script for this family film, based on Mary O'Hara's book-and sort of a second-cousin to her popular sagas "My Friend Flicka" and "Thunderhead, Son of Flicka"-is perfunctory without being exciting, and the movie is so well-scrubbed it's beatific. Narrator Burl Ives also appears, playing a guitar-strumming ranch-hand (he entertains at the teen-dance singing the totally inappropriate novelty, "I Wish I Were Single Again") and Charles Coburn is Cummins' grandfather, who blames a mythic wild horse from running off with his mares.

By Mary O'Hara? Could you compare the two books with some examples please? Thank you for any info. Sorry, I've never actually read the book you're talking about, before. However, there is a book I think you MIGHT really enjoy, I know I did, and it kind of sounds like it might be similar to the book you are talking about: It's called where the red fern grows. It's a classic and very easy to read.
