This textbook is the worst textbook that I have ever encountered in my academic career. As a college professor, who is retraining in a new field, I can not understand how this book actually made it to publication, much less justifies the price tag. This book appears to have no editing or error checking done, as the text is filled with errors. Errors within formulas and summary questions are very prevalent throughout the book and thus make understanding the material nearly impossible without substantial outside help. This textbook is a perfect example of what NOT to do for an academic textbook and the author of this book should be completely ashamed to have his name on it. It is books like this that discourage first generation college students, women and other persons, who do not already have an educated parent/relative in this field at home, from entering STEM fields. As a first-generation college student and female attempting to enter a STEM field, this book would have destroyed any confidence I may have gained when I was right out of high school. Being that I am coming to this book with an academic career behind me, I realize that it is the publisher and the author who are grossly incompetent. Students right out of high school, who are exploring new fields, however, will not have the same knowledge base. Even if this book did not have such an extensive amount of typos, the text is also not appropriate for an introductory course, as the author assumes way to much knowledge, often fails to define and explain variables effectively, spends little (and often no) time discussing conversions, has incorrect tables in places and does not adequately break down how he arrives at his solutions. This publishing company and the author should be ashamed of themselves for contributing to the widespread problem of discouraging first-generation college students, minorities and women from entering STEM fields. If I could give this textbook a zero review, I would. Fellow faculty members, please do yourself and your students a service by avoiding this book like the plague. The only effective use of this book would be for an upper division STEM/education college hybrid course, as an example of what not to do when teaching networking to students.

This typo-ridden pile of trash seems like it was jointly produced by a physicist and a member of Best Buy's geek squad. This book won't teach you anything that you don't already know and understand; material that is unfamiliar to you will remain so.

This book is very helpful to the course I taking. This book give lot of information about data communication and break it down by each topic. Also the question at the end of each chapater is helpful.
