In science, computing, and engineering, a black box is a device, system or object which can be viewed in terms of its inputs and outputs (or transfer characteristics), without any knowledge of its internal workings. Its implementation is "opaque" (black). Almost anything might be referred to as a black box: a transistor, an engine, an algorithm, the human brain, an institution or government.

The box did in fact arouse my curiosity even if I found I wanted to suppress the instinct. Aged ten, say, I don’t think I would have been able to. I’m sure I would have been too excited at the thought that it might contain all sorts of treasures; and then around fifteen I’d have found it irresistibly romantic and would have been ready to weep on discovering dried roses, or some such, pressed between the pages of meaningful poems. It was Rory who found a way into the attics. I had never been in the least curious about what lay under the roof of our house, though I knew well enough there was something above the top floor.
The Black Box is a box set album by Gasolin'. It was released in 2003, and contains the original seven studio albums they released between 1971 and 1977, the live album, Live sådan (but for some reason not Live i Skandinavien) and Additional tracks. The latter contains 19 songs, 18 rare and four of the songs are previously unreleased. Several other rare tracks such as "Endelig jul igen" and "Where Do We Go Now, Mon Ami" are for some reason absent.
When I peek up at Grey through my lashes, he has a hint of a smile on his lips, but it’s very hard to tell. The young couple says nothing, and we travel down to the first floor in embarrassed silence. We don’t even have trashy piped music to distract us. The doors open and, much to my surprise, Grey takes my hand, clasping it with his long cool fingers. As he leads me out of the elevator, we can hear the suppressed giggles of the couple erupting behind us. Grey grins. What is it about elevators? he mutters.
The book is set in Washington State and in Seattle. Tess wants to work in publishing after graduation so Hardin gets her a job at a boutique Seattle-based publisher. Tess loves literature especially books like Wuthering Heights (used as a motif in one of the Twilight sequels as well) and it’s basically the one thing she does for fun - read literature, like Ana or Bella.

Erotic romance novel Fifty Shades of Grey, by previously unknown British author EL James, tops the New York Times best-seller list. Her agent, Val Hoskins, said James was "overwhelmed" by the success of the "21st century word-of-mouth" hit. The trilogy of stories - Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed - tells the tale of a steamy romance between "successful young entrepreneur" Christian Grey and "unworldly, innocent" literature student Anastasia Steele.
