I bought this book because I wanted to know who Alma was as a result of the Tom Lehrer song "Alma". She truly was a muse to genius and lived an interesting life. I enjoyed it and thought it was well written, but you have to have interest in the subject matter/time period. The lyrics claim that Alma possesses the secret to attracting brilliant men. Manipulative behavior and unpredictability plus a great deal of wealth in owning property is Alma's secret and I don't envy her ability at deception. It closes the book on Alma at long last.

ALMA MAHLER was the supreme femme fatale of early-20th-century Vienna. From composers to priests, artists to architects, scientists to writers, she conquered hearts-and broke them. Her first kiss was with Gustav Klimt; her first husband was Gustav Mahler. Her second was Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus movement; her third, the writer Franz Werfel. Written in elegant, lucid prose, her book is a treasure trove of European cultural riches and scandalous intrigue. Alma was born in 1879, the daughter of the painter Emil Schindler.

Muse is mostly known due to their alternative genre of music and also their live performances. Some have compared Muse to other bands such as Radiohead; Though this analogy has faded during past years since Muse has changed its taste. The band always has an Apocalyptic background theme in their albums; In every album, there is a different apocalyptic perspective.
