The Holocystites fauna of central North America includes most known Silurian Diploporita (Echinodermata: Blastozoa). This distinctive diploporite association, widespread in the Wenlockian of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee, consists of eight genera in the Aristocystitidae, Sphaeronitidae, and Holocystitidae.
