Fate of a Cockroach and . .has been added to your Cart. On one hand i felt the play kindled a feeling of being in elementary school and reading a book during story time, but on the other hand i felt that it was very predictable and not knotty. It was almost like i knew what was going happen before hand. There was moments when i felt the play was beginning to get more in-depth with the feeling and emotions of the characters. It was as if the strive to create an connect between the cockroach and the human character was hampering with creating an connect between the reader and the characters. I don't want to just say that it was all bad.

South African writers have dealt with these problems in diverse ways, and look back at the pernicious legacy of apartheid which still haunts the country. 2003 Nobel Prize winner John M. X-MEN
While reading the play there was a feeling of ambivalence towards the theme of the play. It was as if the strive to create an connect between the cockroach and the human character was hampering with creating an connect between the reader and the characters.I don't want to just say that it was all bad. The parts i most enjoyed was the humor between the characters. The way they were very practical ; and that it showed through their actions and sometimes their emotions.

I read a modern adaptation of the Play The Fate of a cockroach. As I was reading I noticed a flowing plot line that was very easy to follow along with. The characters were relatable, and they had a strong connection with eachother. I felt like it was a humorous play, and I enjoyed the author (and adaptor)'s sense of humor. I would recommend the play to anyone who wants a short story and an interesting ending.

Al-Hakim's plays are an unknown treasure-trove of simplistic grandeur to the English reading audience. I wish not to riddle his mastery with an amateur, haphazard review. All in all, however, everyone should read or see his plays for the spectacular perfection of the art of subtle irony and quiet sardonic contemplative wit.
