But they never put it that bluntly. They couldn’t even bring themselves to use the word forgeries. He wanted to say that forgiveness comes only through sacrifice, the blood sacrifice of Jesus himself. Instead, they used pseudepigrapha, a fancy word meaning wrongly attributed authorship that tells the truth while in its pompousness also disguises it. Especially suspect are the so-called pastoral epistles, 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus. So, in contradiction to the other gospels, he says that the message of John the Baptist was to proclaim Jesus as a pending sacrificial Lamb of God.

All things that the Father has are Mine (Jesus). Therefore I said that He (the Parakletos, the Holy Spirit full of truth) will take of Mine and declare it to you . the word Trinity did not come into common use as a religious term until after the Council of Nicaea in . 325, several centuries after the last books of the New Testament were complete. It is not a biblical concept. Please look up and read the many many other answers to this same basic question asked repeatedly here, because it is a very troubling issue. People are still asking about it in 2018 because He didn’t say anything about what we NOW call the trinity and NOW define it.

Church planting is CHALLENGING, in fact sometimes starting something new is the . Great churches are built with people who are faithful in the little things

Church planting is CHALLENGING, in fact sometimes starting something new is the easy part. Building and progress depends on momentum. Church planting is COSTLY and can be very difficult if you are unable to invest sacrificially into the work you are starting. Faith is essential in any new venture and there is no doubt that dependence on God and His miraculous supply is part of the adventure. Great churches are built with people who are faithful in the little things. I’d take a group of ordinary people devoted to an extraordinary God, over a charismatic someone that talks a big game, but hasn’t proven faithful in the ‘day of small beginnings’.

Church planting is hard. Very hard. No, extremely hard. But no one ever told that to Trinity Jordan when he and his wife set out to plant Elevation Church fifteen miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah. What started with three families and a dog named Carson meeting in a house has now grown into multiple house churches and two public gathering locations, with more being developed. But those early days (well, even the current ones, too) would not have been so tough had Trinity been forewarned and well-armed to face the challenges ahead. A new generation of church leaders have begun planting churches in droves and at breakneck speed, which is wonderful in and of itself, but with this movement comes the need to understand all the pitfalls, hurdles, and challenges often overlooked. Jesus Never Said to Plant Churches reveals the secrets on church planting so leaders will have the insight and confidence to complete their mission to see God’s glory reflected in changed lives.

Don't be deceived by the title. The author is truly committed to church planting and states, "Jesus never told us to plant churches. Nobody ever told me that. Not once does Scripture command us to plant churches. Not once. Make sure you are not reading into this and thinking I am against church planting. I am the biggest fan of churches being planted. I love coaching church planters. I now just realize how often we miss the point.' And then he clarifies his thinking by stating, "Make Disciples or You Miss the Point" (26). The context of these remarks is in chapter 2 entitled "It's All About Discipleship, Stupid."

Jordan expresses here what more and more church planters are realizing--church planting that is not based on discipleship will end up being just starting up another worship service in competition with other churches and drawing people from other churches rather than seeing people come to Christ and become fully-committed followers. Mike Breen in his book Building a Disciple-Making Culture says the same, "Start with church and you will not get disciples but start with discipleship and you will get a church." Now that is providing you see the importance of these disciples being formed into a body - a local church where discipleship multiplies leading to the multiplication of a church.

The book then deals with other encouragements and warnings for those wanting to plant a church such as chapter one "If You Can See Yourself Doing Anything Other than Church Planting, Put This Book Down and Go Do It now!" and chapter five, "Be MEAN About the Vision."

I highly recommend this book to those planting churches or contemplating a church plant. It will save you some real headaches and heartaches.
SARAND
Trinity Jordan. The greatest basketball player and godhead together in one name. More than a name, Trinity is the founder of Elevation Church near Salt Lake City and has written Jesus Never Said to Plant Churches.

With a title like, Jesus Never Said to Plant Churches you would think this book would be anti-church planting, like a gallon of Hater-ade dumped on the church multiplication phenomena. But nay, it's just the opposite.

Trinity Jordan addresses the core principles that must guide every church planter. Don't plant a church without reading this book. -- Steve Pike (Church Multiplication Network)

Trinity Jordan tells prospective church planters all the things they wish they had known before they started. This volume is a boot camp in a book. -- Dr. Earl Creps (Assemblies of God Theological Seminary/ 360church)

This generation's leaders are planting churches like high schools pass out contraceptives. If church planters move so fast they don't see future hurdles they might trip right over them and fall. Jesus Never Said to Plant Churches answers questions that everyone forgets to ask. These nuggets of truth are not only helpful but essential to being successful in changing lives through the church-planting initiative.

I enjoyed this book. I know Trinity personally and while reading his book I could hear his voice, his inflection, and his tone in every word. I heard every drop of sarcasm and every dramatic build in his story telling. He is just as likable in his writing as he is in person. And with chapters like "Beware of the Peeing Pastors" and "Get Your Fat Butt to the Gym," how could you not like this guy?

Trinity clearly understands church planting and he understands this generation. If you are planting, looking to plant, think you may plant, or are just interested in learning about church planting, this is a great read from someone who has been in the trenches and has pulled wisdom from his experiences so that others can learn from them.

Trinity does a good job of:

1) Helping you make sure you're called to church planting

2) Reminding you what church planting is really all about

3) Reinforcing your creativity in how you reach people

4) Teaching confidence as the key to persistence which is the key to success

5) Explaining how to cultivate vision

6) Guiding you in building a team of leaders

7) Telling you how to fundraise

8) Sparing you headaches by getting you to think about church government

9) Encouraging you to teach doctrine before it's too late

10) Cautioning you against pew protectors

11) Persuading you to take care of yourself through the whole process

Trinity closes this paperback of knowledge with stories from real people's lives that have been changed through his church plant. Which is of course the whole point of all this.

I give the book two thumbs up. A mandatory read for anyone dabbling in the church planting world or wanting direction in ministry.

Among a myriad of books on church planting, Trinity strips church planting down to its core: "Church planting should be the outgrowth of making disciples." Simple, but definitely not easy. Jesus Never Said to Plant Churches: And 12 More Things They Never Told Me About Church Planting cuts through the growing coolness of church planting and challenges planters to stay true to the heart of God: making disciples. In addition, the book contains helpful practical applications.

For me, the last chapter was worth the price and the time. I loved the stories of changed lives, and it got my blood pumping to be a part of those stories in the lives of others.

I read this book as part of a church planting residency program that I'm currently part of, and I am so appreciative for the author's honesty, insight, and straightforwardness. His heart for God and for people are evident, and his desire to see church planters succeed in their endeavors really came through. His discussions of confidence, being mean about vision and the peeing pastors had me entertained (God forbid we are ever entertained by a book!) but also challenged and convicted. It was an easy read and a breath of fresh air when it comes to a book on church planting.

Seriously, if you feel God calling you to plant a church, please read this book cover to cover.
