Definitive book about this great Saint who was given the gift of meeting the Blessed Among Women, St. Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ and to speak with her for an extended period of time. She was given a mission and this book details her struggles and joys with this task and also gives us some insight as why Catherine too was declared a Saint by the Church. Her body after her death never decayed, as a body normally does, and she among a small group of declared Saints whose bodies are incorrupt (to give us yet another reason for our Faith!!!!). Her incorrupt body can be seen via the internet in photos from various people on various websites or you can visit Paris yourself and view her body there! This book is well written, truthful, and documented. You will be amazed at her humble and ordinary yet extraordinary life. This book is delightful, encouraging, inspiring, and time well spent. It can be used to help liven up your prayer life as you see how our Lord sends yet another way to call people to come to Him and be saved!

I had known the story of the Miraculous Medal but have never "met" the person to whom the message was entrusted. Catherine Laboure is the epitome of a person who experienced extraordinary heavenly favors but exhibited such humility that she never allowed herself to be identified as the visionary . She was given the message that the Immaculate Conception has the power to shower God grace to the our aching sorrowful world. She will protect us and guide us to her Son if we ask her. Catherine Laboure faithfully carried out her mission never directing any attention to herself then went back to her life of service to others. The reader journeys with the young Catherine through the death of her mother and the young saint assuming full adult responsabilty at age 12 for the household management of a farm. She faithfully assists her brothers business by taking on lowly tasks and finally in the convent she cares for the old men in the hospice. Catherine performed her duties of cooking, cleaning and caring for other with love and attention so as to make an offering to God;small tasks done with great love. It is within our ability to strive to do the same.It was a well written, enjoyable and edifying book.

This book answered all my questions about Catherine Laboure and how Mary's Miraculous Medal came to be. Most of my friends never heard of Catherine LaBoure and had no idea that it was to her that Mother Mary appeared to and asked that the Medal be made. Well written and researched.
