Philip Steele is a highly experienced children's book writer. As a 7th grade world history teacher, I found this book to be wonderful. He is the co-author of Raiders of the North, Swords and Samurai, Sungods and Sacrifice and Gods and Gladiators (all Southwater). My students were able to take their knowledge of the Incas and translate it into a variety of projects that gave them a hands-on experience to complement their learning. Projects such as a war shield and sacrificial knife were easy enough for 4-5th grade levels while weaving a llama, medicine bags, and straw rafts proved to be a challenge for my more advanced students.
