Series: Albert Whitman Concept Paperbacks. A very pretty and sensitive book about pregnancy and birth (does not deal with conception). It is told from a second person point of view, as though the child being read to was the infant. The author focuses on the feelings of the mother while she was carrying her baby: what it felt like when the infant kicked, how the infant was fed, etc. Includes good in utero descriptions and drawings. Lacks multicultural drawings.

Her Majesty is a very busy lady and she must have far more important . They’d first met at Ascot

Her Majesty is a very busy lady and she must have far more important things on her mind. But Albert did fuss. This was Albert’s last chance of escape, but before he could put the phone down, another voice came on the line. Humphrey Cranshaw speaking. The last time Albert had heard a voice like that was when he was serving in the army. They’d first met at Ascot. Arabella was inside the royal enclosure looking out, while Jeremy was on the outside, looking in. That was how he’d assumed it would always be, until she gave him that beguiling smile as she strolled out of the enclosure and whispered as she passed him, ‘Put your shirt on Trumpeter.

Albert: I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know that . The first part of the sentence is redundant

Albert: I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know that Bernard doesn’t know too. All Albert knows is the month, and every month has more than one possible date, so of course he doesn’t know when her birthday is. The first part of the sentence is redundant. My latest book Alex Through the Looking-Glass: How Life Reflects Numbers and Numbers Reflect Life is just out in paperback. In the US it has the title The Grapes of Math.

Describes the life of a tiny baby in his safe, warm, floating place during the nine months before he is born.
Comments to eBook You Were Born on Your Very First Birthday (Albert Whitman Concept Paperbacks)
Rolling Flipper
This book is fairly graphic so be warned. But if that's what you're looking for, then it's great. Our 3yo had lots of questions regarding how the "baby will come out" and whether "mommy will be OK" so this book was perfect for us.

I paired this book with pictures of me when I was pregnant, and my three year old LOVES it. He knows that he was in Mommy's belly, and he laughs at the parts where the unborn baby is jumping around, keeping the mother from getting to sleep because my little guy did the same.
A sweet book to explain pregnancy to very young children.

I ordered this book to read to our 2 year old now that I am pregnant with #2. This is not a story at all, it's more a collection of random thoughts. I am big into breastfeeding, co-sleeping, babywearing and all that, but this book was way to hippie trippy for me. I wouldn't have minded the picture of the naked lady, it was tasteful enough, but when I got to the part where you're supposed to believe that contractions and delivery feel like "giant hugs" to the baby I was done. I don't know about my son's perspective, but none of that felt like giant hugs to me. This book is what they would give you at touchy-feely childbirth preparation class. I don't think it's really a story for children at all.

I was looking for something to help explain to my 5 and 7 year old kids how babies grow inside mommy. It has just enough illustrations and clear words to explain what is going on. I think it is appropriate for my purpose. It does not talk about conception, I think that should be a different topic all together anyway.

This book is recommended by howie mandel on his 1990 cartoon bobby's world. A cute show about a boy with a huge imagination.
