Abuelita: Full of Life is a sweet bilingual story of Jose's family and the grandmother who comes to live with them. Armchair Interviews says: Abuelita: Full of Life is a book children and adults will love.
Abuelita: Full of Life is a sweet bilingual story of Jose's family and the grandmother who comes to live with them. Since Abuelita (grandmother) came to live with Jose's family, things have changed. She moves into Jose's bedroom, plants a backyard garden, cooks delectable food, reads the children stories and plays with Jose and his sister. Many will feel the yearning of what was and is no more.
The story is really beautiful in both the English and the Spanish. I love the repetition of the text passage about the boys abuelita, and I absolutely loved how the author used opposites for comparison of her traits. The pictures and colors just make the book all that much better. Library descriptions.

RU. A boy has a good time attending a fair with his grandmother in San Luis de La Paz, Mexico, as she teaches him Spanish words and phrases and he teaches her English.
Abuelita Full of Life offers the loving message of what generations and cultures can learn from each other. A teacher can read this book if there are many students in the class who speak Spanish and are still learning English. The story begins in the picture book when Jose’s Grandmother from Mexico moves in with his family. Through beautifully illustrated pages we learn about the "gifts" her presence brings to the everyday lives of Jose and his family. The reading wasn't too difficult and the story also has English on one side of the page so the teacher can read to the different speakers both at the same time.
