The survey focused on the following aspects:(u) manufacturing process characteristics, (b) the CIM development process, (c) the CIM architecture, and (d) percetved value and benefits. Our results indicate that CIM implementations follow a definite temporal pattern with respect to the adoption of certain information technologies. This will be achieved by companies transforming themselves into learning organisations seeking continuing improvement in every aspect of their activities (Hayes, Wheelwright and Clark 1988).
