This is a very limited resource. I would suggest that buying the SHRM GPHR preparatory materials would give you a better overview on international human resources management than this compilation. A big disappointment.

Good day,

I am pleased with the fact that the book reached to me in no time, which worked out good as I needed it to study.
However upon receiving the book, I notice there were darks spots on the pages were they connect, even though it was advertised as being new and had a plastic on it.
Still good buy.

The book harps on and on about the negative aspects of expatriate careers without going into the positives. Additionally, the expat is the primary focus of the book - very little attention is paid to the idea of managing HR from headquarters in an international context with employees local to each location (HCNs).

This text assumes the user has HR experience and therefore can be challenging for the undergraduate with no working experience. It is excellent for the masters level student and provides a wide view of international H R challenges. Cases at the end of the book provide real perspectives and identify a variety of topics explored in the text.

Without previewing this book, I ordered it as the primary textbook for a graduate level course I was teaching in International HR Management. The table of contents looked comprehensive and since it was written by a couple of Australians, I thought it had to be good. Not so. Although the field of international human resource management is interesting and exciting, this book was not. Excessively wordy and academic, it was excruciatingly boring to read. My students unanimously gave it a thumbs-down.

I got this book for my "Intro to Global HR" course, undergrad and it gives a good look at how a company grows from one country to multiple countries to global, as well as an excellent step by step look at expat relationships and the choices that a firm must make. It is complex, but comprehensive.
The textbook was shipped to me in a timely manner and was in the condition as promised.
