Students and instructors have responded very favorably to the use of focus companies and the real-world financial statements. The companies chosen are engaging and the decision-making focus shows the relevance of financial accounting regardless of whether or not the student has chosen to major in accounting.

This book is probably one of the more interesting financial accounting books out there, but what I found was that all information necessary to pass the class is available for free off of the textbook website which does not require proof of purchase to use! Try watching the narrated slides for each chapter (especially the later chapters) you'll be impressed by the content depth. There are also extensive multiple choice tests, videos etc available for every chapter. don't buy the book, use the website!

Perhaps I have an aversion to accounting, but this book did not help me learn accounting one bit. I ended up learning more accounting by reading Investopedia.

The book has a bunch of examples that are not related to the chapters and usually a bunch of debit/credit entries everywhere that take up pages and pages without much explanation. Even better, when the editions change, this version is literally worth $1 and you would have lost $150+. I have never seen a textbook depreciate so quickly, even when new editions are released.

This is a good beginner's book as it provides the basics you need to introduce yourself to the subject. I needed it for a class but it can serve as a good reference guide as well.

It has good examples and ways to explain everything.
